The introduction to the box type substation

2023-12-18

A box type substation, also known as a pre-installed substation, is a comprehensive power distribution system that integrates high-voltage switchgear, distribution transformers, low-voltage power distribution equipment, and other components within a factory-assembled, compact enclosure. This enclosed steel box is designed to be installed either indoors or outdoors and offers protection against moisture, rust, dust, rodents, fire, and theft. It serves as a movable and fully enclosed solution, particularly well-suited for urban network construction and upgrades, representing a modern alternative to traditional civil substations.

The box-type substation plays a crucial role in various settings such as mines, factories, oil and gas fields, and wind power stations. It effectively replaces conventional civil power distribution rooms and distribution stations, providing a new and complete set of transformer and distribution devices.

In terms of functionality, the box-type substation operates as a compact and self-contained power distribution system. It combines high-voltage switchgear, distribution transformers, low-voltage switchgear, electric energy metering equipment, and reactive power compensation devices within one or more boxes. The arrangement follows a specific wiring scheme and is suitable for a three-phase AC system with a rated voltage of 10/0.4kV. This configuration enables efficient and reliable line distribution of power in various applications.
